Hi colleagues! The last Monday was my last class of the third period in
Advanced l. As always, I arrived to the classroom some minutes before the time
in order to arrange the classroom. I organized the desks in a different way
this time like in the picture:
Organizing the desks in this way I could use the board and I could stick
some charts on the wall. I wrote the date, the objective and the agenda on the
board, and I wait some minutes for my students. The class stated on time and
the first activity was warm greeting; I said “Good afternoon in general” and I
asked “how are you?” and “how was your weekend guys?” after that, a student
read the objective. In this opportunity the warm up was “lottery game”.
Everybody enjoyed the game. The lottery was about simple present verbs. The
presentation of the topic was about the discussion of some facts such as:
The topic of this class was “The Zero Conditional” I prepared some
charts in order to explain the topic and I designed the charts using the
following information:
“We can make a zero conditional sentence with two present simple verbs (one in
the 'if clause' and one in the 'main clause'):
- If + present simple,….. present simple.
This conditional
is used when the result will always happen. So, if water reaches 100 degrees,
it always boils. It's a fact. I'm talking in general, not about one particular
situation. The result of the 'if clause' is always the main clause.
The 'if' in this conditional can usually be replaced by 'when' without
changing the meaning.
For example: If water reaches 100 degrees, it boils. (It
is always true; there can't be a different result sometimes). If I eat
peanuts, I am sick. (This is true only for me, maybe, not for everyone,
but it's still true that I'm sick every time I eat peanuts)”
After that, I gave students more examples. I asked for doubts and I clarified
them. I gave them some practice to see if the students understand the grammar
notes. The practice was some sentences like the following:
PRACTICE
Make zero conditionals:
For example:
(Not / rain / the flowers /
die)
If it doesn’t rain, the
flowers die.
1. (I / wake up late / I /
be late for work)

They worked for some minutes and after that they called out the answers.
At the end of the class I thanked the students because they are a GREAT group
and they helped me a lot in my teaching practicum being good students. Thank to
read me. See you next period. Blessings! :)
